Neon Desert Preview: Tyler The Creator

Neon Desert Festival will be hosting its 6th annual music fest. The event takes over 15 blocks of downtown El Paso, Texas aka Chuco Town. This town use to be known as sleepy nothing to do, (really) far west Texas town nestled between Mexico and New Mexico. As of late, Chuco Town has been making a name for itself in the art and music scene. This year, Neon Desert Festival has brought a well rounded mix of national acts and local artists to please almost any music junkie. Weekend passes are on sale now, get yours and stay tuned for more upcoming spotlights on a couple artists you need to catch this year.

Let's begin with...

...Tyler, The Creator
, you know, the co-found of hip-hop collective Odd Future is billed for this years Neon Desert Festival and we couldn't be more excited. This guy has three albums under his belt and a slue of hot singles he produced for his collective.

His rhymes hit hard and as a listener you can sense his authenticity in this words. Although some lines could be taken with a grain of salt you can't help but appreciate the skill he has for string words together on beat. Speaking of the the beats, throughout his discography they never disappoint. Whether you are cruising down main street with the window rolled down or cleaning up your place, Tyler's music will bring you into a trance. This is not like most hip-hop you hear on your local radio station. The beats range from simple and intricate on a single album with plenty of down beats to match. The lyrics are often explicit. His most recent Cherry Bomb has progressed from his fist album, Goblin (2011) with grace while maintaining his signature sound. I've been jamming this record (among the other two) since its debut in 2015 and for good reason too. There is a seductive mix of hard beats with the undertones of soft jazz saxophones, violins, piano and so much more.  If you don't know Tyler yet click here to get up to speed. - You're Welcome.

We will see you at Neon Desert Music Festival on May 28th &29th. Tickets are on sale now. Get yours!
