Digital Tape Machine has revived my love for music traditionally categorized under a generic label 'electronic'. It's more than that though. This is electronic music brought back to its roots while maintaining a very modern feel. A group based out of Chicago originally founded by Jole Cummins, who has since stepped down. The current touring members are Joe Hettinga, Byran Dohety, Marucs Rezak, and Neal Wehman. They are an impressive and skillful line up. A set by Digital Tape Machine is not like a typical electronic DJ set. When these guys get
on stage be prepared for live guitar, drums, and beats made on the fly. Between the live beat making and impromptu jam sessions no two shows are ever alike. This mix of beats and analog gives the band a unique and addicting sound. The two methods are hardly seen commingling and this band has paved a path and set the bar high for others to follow.
