This year for SXSW I hung back from the crowded venues, endless lines, and hunt for freebee's. Instead I took to the streets with camera in hand. Dirty 6th (Congress to I-35) was bustling with energy on an overcasted Friday afternoon.
Not only was it the second to last day of the two week festival, it was St. Patrick's day too.
Spectators gathered along the sectioned off 6th street to watch performers.
I admit, I look this photo solely on the the Trasher shirt. However, she looks pretty darn cool all around.
Everyone deserves a break from the hustle and bustle. A Pedi Cab driver takes a long drag from his cigarette as the rest of the world briefly vanishes from thought.
New Thousand is a three piece band from Louisiana with a seductive beat. Between songs they would talk to the crowd (which seemed to be ever growing in size.) They may have been playing on the the corner of 6th and Congress at 3pm but they played with a whole heart.
Charles Rangel
was set up catty corner from New Thousand. Austin is a great city to catch a free show, be it in a club or on the streets. During SXSW those opportunities expand tenfold.

Gotta check that hashtag in-between lights.
Aw yes, the infamous lines of south by.
