Chrvches at Stubb's

Chvrches booked a stop at Stubb's Outdoors in  Austin and almost immediately added a second date. We made it out to the first show. It was a live with energy from the moment Alvvays stepped on stage to the final light dimming on Chvrches for the night.

Alvvays is a five piece Canadian band with a soft swaying melodic beat paired with a gentle vocals. I have heard New Wave and Jangle rock used to describe their
style. Personally, I think it has a 60's psychedelic influence with notes of Postal Services. If your a fan of St. Vincent or Unknown Mortal Orchestra, add their album to your queue. They are currently working on their second full length album to follow up their chart topping debut self titled album in 2014.

And for 30 minutes the stage was empty with the exception of the occasional sound guy making a tweak here and there. Almost out of know where the stage lights up and the three members of Chvrches takes take their spot on stage.

Right out of the gate, Lauren Mayberry ignited the crowds energy. A few songs in there was mention of a few phlegm coughs and expelling from Mayberry. The conversation when a little deeper into the life on the Chvches tour bus. The crowd had a good laugh and that's when Mayberry admitted to feeling far under the weather. You would have never known it judging by the performance she has given thus far.  To think, she is going to do the whole thing again tomorrow night. That's passion, pouring from the heart.

She loved jumping on the monitors to catch a little extra height, give some love to the fans in the back.

As the lights flooded the stage and Mayberry raised her mic towards the sky, the crowd when wild. The music blasted through the speakers. A big thanks to Chvrches for putting on a memorable show. Come back to Texas soon. In the mean time check out their latest album drop, Every Open Eye.
