Listening to the first song really sets the beautifully dreary tone of Reasons I Can't Sleep with these hauntingly beautiful lyrics
"We found you laid out on the couch, hands were blue, your head was down,
A note with your plea for peace at least, escape this hell that holds you back
And I keep having dreams you're still alive"
::My thoughts proceed while listening::
And this makes me think of all the times I've tried to write these same goodbye
notes but the reality of world and weakness leaves them unwritten. Being scared of the torn feelings and tears I'll leave behind by the few that still care about me.
The EP proceeds with this manic state of mind, slowing down, speeding up, dual female/male vocals playing off one another.
And all this makes me reminisce of being
16 and going to my first show.
17 and having a miserable complicated crush
20 and realizing headaches weren't worth the sore
And now I'm way past these ages and can't seem to understand that sores come back like old memories
First shows will never come again but new music will always be here for me.
This EP ends with inter-perspective lyrics we can all get behind
Your holding your breath, prolonging the future,Rubbing your eyes cause of things you cannot see,
maybe things will get better but for right now you'll just try to breath,
And you'll see me whenever, if ever, you decide to leave
Sam.
