-Please Watch & Try Not To Cry-
I never new a time without Juan Gabriel. Coming from a mulit-cultural household even my Puerto Rican mother deeply loved this man and would often sing his songs with such gusto it
amazed me she even had that range.
amazed me she even had that range.
Years later as YOUTUBE gained popularity and became the norm, I stopped watching my Juan Gabriel concert dvds and would venture into the past with his videos. Capturing time, reliving through song.
But I still couldn't get over how he commands the stage, takes over crowds and just owns everything.
I couldn't really process his passing, just like I couldn't process Bowie or Prince leaving us way too early.
So my sadness continues to breathe within me.
Having to deal with death is pain.
Having to deal with these memories is hard enough
but to be able to put music to it is too much sometimes.
But like me, a lot of us are doing it.
Torturing ourselves by
listening and crying and loving what this man gave us.
A whole country is mourning and the spillover of their tears can be felt all over the world.
I'll leave you with this. His voice will forever haunt us with joy.
I cried over this piece, and it took me days to put this together. I kept on falling in holes of his music and couldn't pull myself out of them. So it may be short but I hope you all enjoy this.
-Sam.
