There's nothing you can really say about her new project, just that it's amazing on the ears, leaves you dazed and in love. Taking some of my favorite songs like New Edition's Mr.Telephone Man and making it her own. She crafts songs from the past, centered around telephones and leaves her mark on every sample/re-do/remix/rewrite she does
for her mixtape.
Witness produces along with Badu, Andre 3000 and their son Seven appear on this release also. It's been reported all over the interwebs that Drake flows on two of these tracks, and yes at first I really thought the same thing. But I'm crazy and something felt off, so I searched and read and searched and read and finally found out ItsRoutine not Drake is that voice you hear on What's Yo Phone Number and U Use To Call Me. Yes, they share the same first name Aubrey. Yes, they do sound similar. But no, the last name is not Graham it's Davis.
If anything Erykah Badu came to terms and stopped fighting DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown for musical supremacy, merged and made this mixtape for all of us to collectively listen to and enjoy.
